The latest car sideshow in Sacramento’s Meadowview area ended in arrests, others noted

An illegal gathering of vehicles performing stunts, referred to as a “sideshow,” resulted in one felony arrest and multiple citations by Sacramento police over the weekend.

Officers responded at 10:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a sideshow involving about 200 vehicles spread across the city. The Sacramento Police Department wrote on its Twitter page.

At one point, a man fired a gun into a crowd gathered in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood in the area of ​​Florin Road and Amherst Street.

Sideshows are illegal gatherings where drivers take over busy city intersections, parking lots and even entire stretches of road and freeway to perform donut-like stunts.

The shows usually attract a large number of people there to watch the drivers perform.

At least four vehicles were impounded, nine traffic citations and two misdemeanor warrants were issued with the arrests. Four vehicles have been seized, police said.

According to social media posts, no injuries or damage were reported.

Saturday’s sideshow was at least the second event on Amherst Street in about two weeks.

A stunt show ended on February 11 A man and his teenage son have been charged with assault. A few days later detectives arrested Antonio Hernandez, 19, and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony charges of battery and child involvement.
