Plainfield restaurant manager accused of hurling racial slurs at student athletes

PLAINFIELD – The manager of a Plainfield fast-food restaurant was arrested Thursday after police said he admitted to hurling racial slurs at members of a high school basketball team.

At approximately 9:59 p.m., Plainfield officers were dispatched Wendy’s Restaurant at 2 Pratt Road After receiving several complaints about dispatchers reporting an oral argument about denial of service.

Police said White later admitted to using slurs. He was charged with second-degree breach of peace and released on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear on February 21 Danielson Superior Court.

Woodstock Academy School Principal Chris Sanford said Friday morning that he planned to issue a statement later in the day about the incident.

A similar case in Norwich

The incident comes less than three years after a Plainfield woman was accused of racially threatening a black woman while the two were in a Norwich Starbucks drive-thru line. Holly Chalifox was charged with third-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias and later ordered to participate. Supervised Pretrial Diversionary Program.

Plainfield Police Chief Mario Arriaga said Friday morning that he is reviewing the arrest report to determine if there are more serious charges in the case.
