A Green man was arrested after homemade explosives were found at a Massillon Road home

A green man was later arrested Summit County Sheriff’s Office Homemade explosive devices were found in a residence in an apartment complex, which was evacuated Saturday, the agency said.

The sheriff’s office initially responded to a residence on Massillon Road in Green after a woman told police a 48-year-old man from Green came into her home in violation of a protective order.

Deputies searched the residence and did not find him but found several suspected explosive devices inside the residence, prompting the evacuation of the apartment complex.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad and ATF responded to the scene and found numerous homemade explosive devices, explosive devices, weapons and ammunition.

The man was arrested and charged Illegal manufacture or processing of explosivesa second-degree felony, and Violation of a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor. The sheriff’s office said additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

According to the court recordThe temporary protection order was filed in court on Friday, a day before the woman said she came to his residence in violation of the order.

On Wednesday, Barberton Municipal Judge Todd McKenney set a $1.5 million cash bond for the man, according to court records. record.
