2 men accused of surrounding police car in Cape Cod with a BB gun pointed at the officer’s window

Two Cape Cod men are accused of using their car to surround an unmarked Barnstable police car, one of them fired a BB gun into the officer’s driver’s side window and door, and then struck and damaged the vehicle, police said.

Jordan Berio, 29, of Centerville, and Robert Carver, 50, of Hyannis, were arrested and charged after the incident, which happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Hyannis, police said.

Berio is accused of firing a BB gun at the officer’s vehicle. Police said the officer was not injured.

After the incident, police said Berio and Carver were driving at a high rate of speed. After some time the police stopped them.

Berio was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a BB gun on a public way, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, negligent driving and speeding.

Carver was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, careless driving, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Both Berio and Carver were released on $40 bail and are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court.
